Department fundraising at the Center for Southern Folklore
The Department of Anthropology held a kick-off dinner to launch a major fund-raising effort on the evening of April 28, 2005 at the Center for Southern Folklore. Close to 100 people, including faculty, administrators and staff, current undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and family and friends of the department attended this event. It was a great success! This fund-raising initiative will support department’s short-term and long-term goals. One short-term goal is to fully equip and improve our new Anthropology Research Laboratory in Manning 322, supplementing the Technology Access Fund (TAF) that Dr. Finerman recently received. A long-term goal is to establish an Anthropology Enrichment Fund to enhance student learning, community engagement, and public outreach. This fund may support student travel to professional workshops and conferences, community-based research, outstanding undergraduate and graduate student awards, speakers’ series, and various mentorship and internship opportunities.
